Irans top security official has stated that lasting stability and security will be ensured only in light of constant dialogue and cooperation among countries in the region.
"Warm and friendly relations with neighbors as well as an exchange of economic, trade and investment capacities are the Islamic Republic of Irans main foreign policy priorities," Secretary of Irans Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the National Security Advisor of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Tehran.
Shamkhani noted that relations among regional states should by no means be affected by the interventionist policies of extra-regional powers.
"Through cooperation and collective efforts, countries in the Persian Gulf region can both bring prosperity to their nations and also play an important role as an energy hub in the regional and international economy," the senior Iranian official pointed out.
The senior UAE official highlighted the abundant opportunities for bilateral cooperation in various sectors, namely transit of goods, energy, transportation, health, and investment.
"Specialized working groups should be set up in order to precisely identify areas for joint cooperation in various economic fields, and remove the existing obstacles," he said.
Sheikh Tahnoon, leading a high-profile Emirati delegation, arrived in Iran on Monday morning in an official visit. He is going to hold a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi during his one-day visit to Tehran.
